OMilicious Granola High Vibration

High Vibrational Food - what exactly does that mean? Everything you see, feel and do is the result of energy that is vibrating at a certain speed. Everything around you: your phone, furniture and your body are moving at a certain speed because of the billions of particles clustered together and creating your reality - the feeling you get! The food you eat and your gut affect your vibrational state, as well. The foods you eat have their own vibrational frequency and the healthier foods have the higher vibration and that’s what makes your gut happy. So, when I say “Granola is a high vibrational food” it’s because you feel better, lighter, and healthier when you eat good quality food that’s delish, which in turn raises your vibrational frequency. And, that goes for any healthy dishes that are loaded with nutrition, tastes great and looks mouth watering delicious.. They all affect your vibrational experience.  

This brings me to the topic of the gut and brain connection and how it affects our mood. A healthy gut equals a healthy brain. What you eat affects your mood, happiness and mental clarity. According to studies at John Hopkins Medicine and Idiots Guide to Ayurveda (not crazy about the title but it’s a thorough introduction to the study of Ayurveda) - Sahara Rose Ketabi - “when your digestion is working well you can experience confidence, joy, patience, logic,  mental clarity and vigor for life”. 

Speak to your food - give thanks to your food before you eat. I always say a blessing before any food or drink enters my mouth. It gives me a few seconds to get mindful and recite a blessing over the food. ‘Gratitude’ is one of the highest vibrational energies along with feeling joy. 

Here’s a great book to showcase the power of gratitude: The Hidden Messages in water - author Masaru Emoto. He found that water exposed to loving emotions and intention developed beautiful molecular structures, whereas water that was exposed to intentions of hate, disgust or evil were molecularly disfigured. Emoto even did a study showing how a water crystal after one hour of praying and setting a positive intention via praying or gratitude for your food can change it’s vibrational and molecular state. Cool, eh?!

Besides my OMilicious Granola - I refer to as my ’high vibrational Snack’ here’s some hi vibration food to add to your grocery list: 

Raw Nuts and Seeds: Almonds,  Chia Seeds,  Flaxseeds, Hemp Seeds, Pumpkin Seeds, Sunflower Seeds, Brazil nuts

Fresh Herbs and Spices: Basil, Black Pepper, Bay Leaf, Cardamon, Cayenne, Fennel, Garlic, Ginger, Mint, Mustard Seeds, Nutmeg, Oregano, Paprika, Rosemary, Saffron, Turmeric

Oils: Coconut, Almond, EVOO, Flaxseed,  Ghee

Sweeteners: Honey, Coconut Sugar, Pure Maple Syrup

Fruit - aim for organic and seasonal - check out EWG.Org for the clean fifteen and dirty dozen: Blueberries, Strawberries, Blackberries, Apples, Oranges, Pineapple, Mango, Kiwi

Vegetables - aim for organic and seasonal - EWG.org: Artichikes, Bell Peppers,  Cabbage, Celery, Spinach, Pumpkin, Microgreens, Asparagus, Broccoli,  Carrots, Peppers, Sprouts, Potatoes, Leafy Greens (arugula, kale, chard, lettuce), Beets, Brussels sprouts, Cauliflower, Radishes, Turnips, Tuber Vegetables

Algae: Spirulina, Seaweed, Mushrooms

Fermented Food: Kimchi, Sauerkraut, Kombucha (personally I don’t do well with most fermented foods - know your body)

Grains: Quinoa, Buckwheat, Barley, Amaranth, Millet, Wild Rice 

Teas - Coffee should be organic - free from mold and pesticides: Herbal Teas, Green Teas

Water: Pure Spring Water or filtered to remove chlorine and fluoride and other contaminants

Mis En Place - get ready, get set, go!


Recipe:

2 cups rolled oats

1/2 cup dried fruit 

1 cup pepitas a.k.a pumpkin seeds

1 cup unsweetened coconut shreds

4 tsp ground cinnamon

1/2 tsp fine gran salt - Himalayan is my fave

1/2 cup maple syrup

1/2 cup coconut oil - melted

4 tsp vanilla extract 

1/2 cup chocolate chips or shredded chocolate - optional 

  • Preheat oven to 275 degrees

  • Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper

  • In a large bowl add all the dry ingredients and mix well

  • Add all the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix thoroughly

  • Spread the granola on the baking sheet using a spatula - about 1/2 inch thick and pat down to hold the granola together

  • Bake for 20 minutes then rotate the baking sheet fro another 20 minutes - golden and firm to touch will indicate it’s ready to come out if the oven

  • Cool the granola on the baking sheet for one hour before breaking it apart into delicious granola bites



High Vibration, eh!? Mouth watering - gotta have some!

Genia’s Spoon Me Tips: 

Add chocolate on top when the granola comes out of the oven to melt into the granola and allow it to cool or add chocolate when granola is cooled down. My family loves the chocolate melted into the granola. It’s always a hit! Dangerously OMilicious! 

Store the granola in the fridge for 2-3 weeks or freeze for 5 weeks - FYI, it will be eaten faster than you can imagine. 

Add granola to your yogurt, NICE-cream (for another Tasty Tuesday bolg/recipe), cereals, or as is!
