Yoga
When I first embarked on my yoga journey nearly two decades ago, I was deeply entrenched in the world of fitness, teaching classes and training clients tirelessly. Yet, it was when I stumbled into a yoga class in Long Island that something truly resonated with me. The serene ambiance, with dimmed lights and soft music, provided a stark contrast to the bustling, high-energy atmosphere of the fitness studio. Stepping onto my mat felt akin to savoring a decadent chocolate pudding, enveloped in bliss and calm with each asana.
Despite initially struggling with the concept of Savasana, the final resting pose, I soon found solace in the discipline of traditional Ashtanga yoga. Like a revelation reminiscent of my deep immersion in Jewish Studies, yoga became a transformative force in my life, reigniting my inner flame.
Years later, inspired by the profound healing I experienced through yoga during a bout of adrenal fatigue, I embarked on the path to becoming a yoga teacher. Delving into the intricate energies of the Chakras, I found parallels with the spiritual teachings of Kabbalah, recognizing the interconnectedness of body, mind, and spirit.
Yoga, for me, is not just a physical practice but a spiritual journey, a conduit for healing and self-discovery. Through intentional breathwork and movement, we can clear energetic blockages, paving the way for profound transformation and healing. I have witnessed firsthand the power of yoga to dissolve stagnation and facilitate inner growth, both in myself and my students.
Ultimately, yoga is about showing up, being present on the mat, and embracing the journey, regardless of the poses we can or cannot accomplish. It's a sacred space, a sanctuary where I find respite and release, drawing inspiration from my teachers, spiritual texts, and the divine flow of life itself. My practice and teaching are imbued with the intention of fostering physical and spiritual healing, guiding others toward wholeness and alignment with their true selves.
